Samantha Marrone

Associate

Overview

Samantha’s work is rooted in the belief that all people and communities deserve to be free from oppression in all its forms, including environmental harm, and that the law can help shift power back to people and communities while holding powerful institutions and corporations accountable.

Prior to joining Sher Edling, Samantha worked at the Louisiana Center for Children’s Rights in New Orleans. She represented young people in the criminal legal system, including in serious cases where they faced the possibility of being tried as adults. She later became a supervising attorney, advising other youth defenders on case strategy and trial advocacy. Samantha practiced holistic defense, and her work included investigations, motions practice, trials, negotiations, and managing interdisciplinary defense teams. Earlier in her career, Samantha worked in both private practice and government in New Orleans, handling a mix of civil, regulatory, and criminal matters.

Samantha earned her J.D. from Tulane Law School, where she worked as an Environmental Law Research Assistant and earned a Certificate in International & Comparative Law. While in law school, she also earned an M.S. in International Development from Tulane’s Payson Center for International Development. She received her B.S. in Business/Legal Studies from Tulane University.

When she’s off the clock, Samantha enjoys being outdoors, finding new places to swim, trying new restaurants, going to the movies, dancing, and hanging out with her family’s four wiener dogs.
