Jolie McLaughlin

Counsel

Overview

Jolie McLaughlin is an environmental litigator dedicated to protecting natural resources and communities from pollution. She represents public entities in lawsuits against corporations for polluting the environment and harming public health, to ensure that companies remedy the harms they have caused.

Before joining Sher Edling, Jolie spent many years as an attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council, where she litigated cases involving air pollution, climate change, and drinking water contamination. Her work included representing residents of Flint, Michigan, in the landmark litigation arising from the city’s 2014 lead drinking water crisis. Jolie also served as associate regional counsel at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where she enforced violations of federal environmental laws and secured multimillion-dollar civil penalties and injunctive relief against corporate polluters. She also practiced at a leading international law firm, representing clients in complex commercial litigation and regulatory matters, including under the Clean Air Act.

Jolie clerked for the Honorable Rebecca Pallmeyer of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She earned her law degree magna cum laude from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor for the Northwestern University Law Review.
