Justin Capone

Associate

Overview

Justin is an avid environmentalist dedicated to protecting people and the planet through the rule of law. At Sher Edling, he represents states and local governments seeking to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for deceiving the public about climate change, and in litigation against manufacturing companies responsible for polluting water sources with PFAS.

Prior to joining Sher Edling, Justin served as an attorney at the California Public Utilities Commission where he represented the Public Advocates Office in administrative proceedings to ensure the lowest possible costs for ratepayers, regulate energy utility companies, and advance California’s energy procurement goals. During law school, he concentrated in environmental law and clerked for Sher Edling and the Natural Resources Defense Council. He also served as Executive Management Editor of the UC Law Environmental Journal, where he published a law review article, The Inequitable Impacts of Sea Level Rise: How East Palo Alto Serves as Both a Warning and Beacon of Hope for Coastal Communities.

Before law school, Justin worked at the nonprofit Save The Bay advancing climate adaptation and environmental justice policies in Bay Area communities. In his free time, Justin enjoys photography, scuba diving, and trying new foods.
