Miranda Holeton

Associate

Overview

Miranda is a zealous advocate for people and the planet. She joined Sher Edling in 2022 to hold polluters accountable for the catastrophic harm they cause. Miranda represents local governments, states, and water suppliers in the firm’s complex climate damages and deception and land and water contamination cases. She is a dynamic and dependable teammate who is deeply committed to the firm’s mission.

Miranda has broad litigation experience from pre-suit investigations to appeals and settlement negotiations. Miranda successfully briefed an appeal of a trial court order granting a motion to quash for lack of personal jurisdiction on behalf of several local governments, resulting in a published California Court of Appeal opinion reversing the trial court’s order. See In re Fuel Indus. Climate Cases, 117 Cal. App. 5th 882 (2026), reh’g denied (Jan. 23, 2026).

Prior to joining Sher Edling, Miranda served as a Legal Research Assistant at the Superior Court of San Franciso. While in law school, she earned a certificate in environmental law and participated in numerous extracurriculars, including serving on the board of a student-run nonprofit that raised substantial funds for unpaid, public interest student internships.

Before law school, Miranda worked as a Park Ranger for the County of San Mateo. She was stationed at San Pedro Valley Park in Pacifica, CA, where she maintained the park’s coastal mountain trail system, and Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach, CA, where she educated the public about the resident harbor seals and intertidal invertebrates.
