Overview
Naomi has dedicated her career to advocating for communities experiencing the environmental, social, and economic effects of climate change and other complex environmental challenges. At Sher Edling, she represents states and local governments seeking to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for deceiving the public about climate change and their contribution to it. She also represents public entities and water suppliers in land, air, and water contamination cases, including the California Department of Toxic Substances Control in a major cost-recovery suit involving a former secondary lead smelting facility in the Los Angeles region.
Naomi is a thoughtful and strategic legal advocate, with a particular strength in briefing complex issues. Her experience spans pleadings, motion practice, written discovery and depositions, expert development, trial preparation, and appeals.
A former summer associate at Sher Edling, Naomi returned to the firm in 2022 after clerking for the Honorable Philip S. Gutierrez, then-chief judge of the Central District of California. During law school, Naomi served as an editor-in-chief and articles editor for Ecology Law Quarterly and represented environmental justice organizations in California’s Central Valley through the Environmental Law Clinic. Prior to attending law school, she worked in alumni communications for a university in Halifax, Canada while leading local environmental volunteer groups. Naomi is fluent in French and enjoys hiking and running, cooking, and visiting farmers’ markets in her free time.
