San Francisco based law firm Sher Edling LLP announced today that as of January 1, 2022, three of its senior associates have been promoted. All three attorneys work across Sher Edling’s portfolio representing states, cities, and public agencies to hold polluters accountable for deceiving consumers about climate change, for contaminating the drinking water people rely on, and for threatening communities and public health with dangerous chemicals in our land, air, and water.
Katie Jones, elevated to Partner, helps lead Sher Edling’s growing docket of cases to hold the manufacturers of the toxic chemical 1,4-dioxane responsible for the enormous costs facing drinking water suppliers to comply with new public health standards. Katie also plays a lead role in prosecuting the climate deception and damage lawsuits filed by cities and counties in California as well as consumer protection lawsuits filed by New York City and the District of Columbia Attorney General.
Stephanie Biehl, elevated to Partner, represents Sher Edling on the Plaintiff’s Executive Committee of the Aqueous Film-Forming Foams (AFFF) Products Liability Litigation, multidistrict litigation related to PFAS contamination of groundwater, currently pending before the Federal District Court of South Carolina. In addition, Steph manages Sher Edling’s work on the climate damage and deception cases filed by the City of Charleston, SC, and by the Attorneys General of Delaware and Rhode Island.
Tim Sloane, elevated to Counsel, brings sophisticated technical expertise to help Sher Edling’s clients navigate the complexities of state and federal waste and water quality laws, both in and outside the courtroom. Tim also brings firsthand experience working with California coastal communities and fishermen in their fight to hold fossil fuel industry defendants accountable for deceiving consumers about climate change, and he helps lead the firm’s representation of Honolulu and Maui in their climate damage and deception lawsuits.
Vic Sher and Matt Edling, the firm’s founding partners, congratulated the attorneys in a joint statement: “We are fortunate to have the skills, passion, and expertise that Katie, Steph, and Tim have brought to our team over the past five years. Sher Edling is growing, and their new leadership roles will make us even stronger, better advocates in helping our clients protect people and the planet every day.”
